Ghoul Fever

Disease—bite, Fortitude DC 20, incubation period 1 day, damage 1d4 Con, and 1d2 Dex.

A living humanoid afflicted with ghoul fever is contagious and can pass the disease by contact, the Fortitude DC drops by 10, however.

An afflicted humanoid, with 2 or more hit dice, who dies of ghoul fever rises as a ghoul immediately. Humanoids with less hit dice, simply die and rot. A humanoid who becomes a ghoul in this way gains the ghoul template. It is not under the control of any other ghouls, but it hungers for the flesh of the living. A humanoid of 4 Hit Dice or more rises as a ghast, not a ghoul.

Each day that the ghoul resists eating the flesh of a humanoid, it suffers 1d4 – 1 strength damage.

If at any time in the future the ghoul succumbs and consumes humanoid flesh, all strength damage is immediately restored.

The first time that the ghoul consumes humanoid flesh, its alignment shifts to Evil.
